Buffalo congressman backs Long Island DA in crowded primary field

NEW YORK, NY (May 24, 2010) – Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced Monday afternoon that United States Representative Brian Higgins (NY-27), of Buffalo, has endorsed her campaign for New York State Attorney General.

“Kathleen Rice has the experience, the passion and the vision to be an excellent attorney general,” said Congressman Higgins.  “Among this field of very impressive candidates, Kathleen is truly a standout.  Most importantly, I believe Kathleen will be a real advocate for Western New York.  Like the people of this community, she knows what it takes to stand up and fight for what’s right.  She has the integrity it takes to reform government, the toughness it take on violent criminals and white-collar thieves, and the legal experience it takes to advocate for the rights of New Yorkers across the state.  I wholeheartedly support her candidacy and I look forward to campaigning alongside her during the months ahead.”

“Rep. Higgins is a leader for Western New York and I’m thrilled that he has decided to join our campaign,” said District Attorney Rice. “I look forward to campaigning with Congressman Higgins in Buffalo and in Erie County as we continue to share our vision of reform and progressive economic, environmental and social justice policy.  He is certain to be a cornerstone in our efforts to communicate with voters, and if I am fortunate enough to be elected, I will continue to rely on his support in my efforts to fight on behalf of New Yorkers in Buffalo and Western New York.”

District Attorney Rice’s campaign for attorney general also received the endorsement of New York City’s Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club today.
