Kathy Hochul: My First Few Weeks

Dear Friends,I want to thank you again for all your help and support throughout the campaign.  Your efforts led us to an astounding victory that many called impossible.  Our grassroots army showed that the right message and the support of volunteers knocking on thousands and thousands of doors and making thousands and thousands of phone calls could withstand the test of millions of dollars in outside special interest money.

I promised to fight to protect seniors and ensure the survival of Medicare.  Well I’m proud to say my very first vote, on my very first day, in Congress was against the Republican budget that would decimate Medicare.

Since then, I have opened my district office in Williamsville, received my  committee assignment and taken part in a committee hearing; met with multiple Cabinet members to discuss America’s security and the economy; offered my first amendment to ensure we keep gas prices down and money in the pockets of Western New Yorkers; and met with President Obama at the White House to discuss the need for deficit reduction, while still protecting Medicare and keeping the promises made to our seniors.

In the weeks and months ahead, I will continue our fight to help small businesses create jobs for Western New York, cut spending and reduce our deficit, and ensure we protect Medicare for all seniors.

Once again, I am truly humbled and honored by your faith in me and I am looking forward to working for all the residents of New York’s 26th District, as we fight for issues I know you care about.

Many thanks,

Kathy
