Notes On Monday Night’s Town Board Meeting 1/7/2013
This was the new year’s reorganization meeting. People were assigned to Town committees, to lead them or simply be members of these committees.
The most important committee of the evening which had an opening was the Planning Committee. This committee is made up of five Republicansand only one Democrat, Debra Norton.
Developers who go before the Planning Board asking for favors and changes in their plans are always given what they want by a vote of 5 to 1 with Mrs. Norton voting in the opposition.
Debbie Norton and I disagree on certain major issues but she is a person who cares for the rights of the people. Her work on the Planning Board for the people of Amherst is outstanding. She doesn’t back down from the power brokers, which is the main reason our Town Board, with the exception of Councilman Mark Manna, voted to not reappoint her to the Planning Board.
Now the people of Amherst well not have an advocate to protect and fight for their rights. The public should find out who is making the decisions on the Planning Board. These “poop” boys and girls are greedy people, weak and simple minded, except for maybe one.
There was one other major item the Town Board voted to have placed on this November’s ballot. A referendum that the Amherst Town Board will stay at its present size of six members. It will not be reduced any further.
