Citizens of Amherst Come to Your Town Board Meetings to Understand How Your Taxes Are Being Used

Sept. 5, 2018

When it comes time to pay taxes, which will be raised this year, please don’t ask yourself why. If more people would attend our town board meetings these questions could be answered. You would understand what the town has spent your money on, like needed equipment in the highway, engineering, and other departments. You would understand what projects were paid for or bonded and how the Amherst IDA actions will cost the taxpayers. There is much to learn at a town board meetings.

The reason your taxes were low the last four years was because our ex-Supervisor would move money around so taxes were kept low. Unfortunately this type of action ends up with taxes needing to be caught up on to what they really should have been.  Weinstein told me this would be his legacy to the people of Amherst. He kept taxes down but now we will pay with higher taxes.

If you want to understand why your taxes have get up and go to the Town Board meetings. The next one is September 17th in Town Hall on Main Street. Meetings start at 7:00 p.m.

We have a Supervisor who cares for people and will take the time to answer your questions. Amherst has the good fortune to have a man such as Brian Kulpa as our Supervisor. He has the courage, integrity and honesty we need. He really is the kind of man Senator John McCain would like as a friend. He doesn’t have loser on this town board who do nothing like Fran Spoth.

Can you tell me what the chief of staff does for $85,000???
Did you forget to mention he created two new positions totaling a salary of $160,000 and benefits?

  2. Diogenes says:

Johnny, good question. What a con job we were all were handed in the run up to election night last year.

I hate to say this, but I am slowly coming to the belief that my great aunt Violet knew far more about the human condition then I ever gave her credit for when it came to politicans’, large and small, when she replied to my question about why she never votes in an election. Diogenes,my boy, she replied, “I never vote for any of them because I have observed that it only encourages them.”

What has Brian and his associates accomplished or put in play todate. Where’s the beef. Except for increasing the number oRf sows feeding at the public trough I see no value added results. And, just wait until the town folk see their town tax bills for next year. Remember everyone one of the bullets in Brian’s campaign literature was to, “hold the line on taxes. This is what we got for the obscene salary increases the previous town board gave themselves. These new salary increases incentivised the current town board to run for public office, not what is in the best interest of
    the town.

    One last parting thought,
