Sweet Home Road Townhouse Project Bounced Back to Amherst Planning Board

A proposal to build 50 single-story townhouses at the site of Average Joe’s tavern and a neighboring property on Sweet Home Road will receive another review from the Amherst Planning Board this month.

RAS Development has worked since January to gain approval for its plans to build at 2360 Sweet Home, at North Ellicott Creek Road. The project changed to accommodate neighbors, and again when the Average Joe’s property at 2350 Sweet Home became available more recently.

The Town Board last week declined to vote separately to rezone 2360 Sweet Home, asking the Planning Board to reconsider both properties as one because they will share street access.

Eric Gillert, the town’s planning director, said the Planning Board will look at 2350 and 2360 Sweet Home together when it meets Nov. 30. The Planning Board makes a recommendation on rezoning, before the Town Board decides.
