Amherst Police Officer Injured in a Crash on Sheridan Drive

An Amherst police officer was injured in a crash with another vehicle Friday afternoon on Sheridan Drive near Niagara Falls Boulevard.

The officer was traveling to assist a colleague at about 12:30 p.m. when his patrol SUV and another vehicle were involved in the accident.

A news release from Amherst police doesn’t detail exactly what happened. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The 71-year-old Buffalo man who was driving the other vehicle was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The male officer was taken to Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, for injuries that were not life-threatening. Neither driver was identified.
