Amherst to Pay $45,000 to Settle Dispute Over Legal Bill

The Town of Amherst will pay $45,000 to settle a lawsuit brought by a Rochester law firm, over the bill for its legal services.

The dispute stemmed from the Amherst Town Board’s 2017 lawsuit against the town’s Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Zoning Board granted variances for a controversial planned apartment complex.

The Town Board hired Hancock Estabrook of Syracuse as its lawyers, while the Zoning Board hired Harter, Secrest and Emery of Rochester.
