Shelly Schratz, owner of Bing’s Restaurant and a former Amherst Town Board member, is running for the Erie County Legislature.

Former Amherst Councilwoman Shelly Schratz, the well-known Snyder restaurateur, is running as a Republican for the Erie County Legislature.

Schratz, 61, is seeking the Amherst-based 5th District seat held by Democrat Thomas A. Loughran, who isn’t running for re-election after 13 years in the Legislature.

The owner of Bing’s Restaurant served eight years on the Amherst Town Board, ending in 2009. She also has unsuccessfully run for Erie County clerk, a congressional seat and against Loughran.

Schratz is circulating petitions for the Republican line and said she also wants the Conservative endorsement.

  1. John Snyder says:

Shelly Schratz is one person who doesn’t mind working for a living. I’ve seen her perform at the old Amherst Town Hall meetings. She was very successful in transforming the traffic light mess at Kensington & Harlem to today’s roundabouts. Can anyone imagine the effort that took?

Work and be successful rather than only sit, behave and gain seniority.

    Go Shelly!!!

  2. Bruce says:

How could one possibly forget the old town board? Harlem-Kensington was her neighborhood. Every other neighborhood was up for sale through Ms. Schratz and her known proclivities to collude with every developer in town.

Can hardly wait to hear the reinventing.

  3. Peter says:

There must be other people that Langworthy can choose from to represent the 5th District other than a recycled politician with questionable tactics and ethics.

Her worn out shtick is just that. Her past actions, always looking out for numero uno, above all , is what speaks volumes.

Doesn’t Langworthy wonder why she has lost every campaign after her stint on the Amherst Town Board??

  4. Pence says:

    Oh hell no!

  5. Chris says:

As a Conservative-Republican, I am extremely disappointed in Langworthy and party leaders for even contemplating inflicting a flawed candidate on the people.

Are they ignorant of the past? Are they that desperate? Are they willing to give up another seat to the Democrats?

  6. Lynne says:

Langworthy can’t be that stupid. Has he been under a rock for the past several years? A loser is a loser, regardless of party.
He would be better of choosing someone, anyone without a political record of gross self-serving.
