Candidate Forum – Oct. 24, 2019

July 8, 2019

Dear Candidates:

In 2017, the Amherst Open Government Advisory Board held a successful non-partisan candidate forum at Amherst Town Hall. We will be holding a candidate forum this year on Thursday, October 24, 2019, 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm in the Amherst Town Board meeting room.
We are inviting all of the candidates for Town Board and Town Clerk to attend. The event will be videotaped and posted on the Town website for the public to view.
The format we followed last time will be the same this year. Each candidate will get two minutes to make an opening statement. Members of the public will step up to the podium and ask questions, every candidate will be given one minute to respond. Each candidate will get two minutes to make a closing statement to end the event.
I will serve as moderator of the event.
Please let me know if you plan on participating in this forum. There are very few opportunities for the public to see and hear the candidates answer questions and where interested members of the public who cannot attend the event have the ability to watch a video afterward.
Paul Wolf, Esq.

  1. Gary Nydhal says:

Can I ask you a question Mr. Wolf? Why is your board filled mostly with Democrats.

  2. jjtric says:

The board will not be involved with any questions. All the questions will be asked by the audience. I hope this answers your question.
    Jim Tricoli

  3. Paul Wolf says:

    Mr. Nydhal

I have no idea what voter registration the members of the Open Government Advisory Board are as I have never asked them that question.

Why is the voter registration of the board members a concern for you?

  4. Gary Nydhal says:

Thank you Mr, Tricoli for answering my question. Mr. Wolf it doesn’t take long to find out how people on the board feel on issues, I don’t think you’re that naive either. I wouldn’t want it to be a set up for the opposing candidates to walk into an ambush.
