ECC North Should Be Turned into a Useful Trade School

ECC isn’t needed in the Northtowns. It is a waste of money for our taxpayers. Many of the older generations remember when high schools in the area taught realistic trades.

ECC can become a trade school for men and women who want to become plumbers, electricians, carpenters, mechanics and up to date computer skills. These practical trades would earn them a decent salary. Anyone in the area who needs to have something fixed in their home knows the high cost of hiring a trade person. ECC is a perfect place for people who want to learn a trade that is in demand.

ECC is a way station for most students who want to go on to a 4-year college. The stats on these students going on to a 4-year college is less than 9%. These students get college loans which they spend on clothes, food, and to pay their monthly bills. They never plan to repay this money since they can’t find a decent job.

The Board of this school is a total joke. They are milking the system for their own private pockets and to stay on the board.

If our Governor keeps this joke of a place called ECC North open it’s a free lunch for most of the students and the Board. The people who want to learn a trade should support this idea and email or call Governor Cuomo’s office for the need for such a place. He might like the idea.
