Glor Gives Buffalo a Silent Shout-out in His Final ‘Evening News’ Program

Tonawanda native Jeff Glor gave his final broadcast as anchor of “The CBS Evening News” Friday night. He is being replaced by Norah O’Donnell. 

In his final broadcast as the anchor of the “CBS Evening News” Friday night, Town of Tonawanda native Jeff Glor gave what could be called a silent shout-out to his native Western New York.

After the credits of all the people involved in the program were over, the newscast ended with an overhead live shot of downtown Buffalo.

Whether Glor or someone on his staff came up with the idea, it was a beautiful way to end the Buffalo booster’s 17-month tenure as the anchor of the prestigious program.

In his brief remarks Monday after it was announced that Norah O’Donnell would be replacing him as anchor, Glor was criticized in some quarters for not mentioning her.

He answered that criticism Friday by wishing O’Donnell “the best of luck.”
