Public Can Meet 3 Finalists for UB Police Chief Job

Dec. 4, 2018

The University at Buffalo community can meet the three finalists for the position of police chief at public forums scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The candidates will remain anonymous until each is introduced over the three days, a practice the university follows in searches for high-level positions, said UB spokesman John Della Contrada.

UB is seeking a successor to Gerald W. Schoenle Jr., who retired in January after 12 years as chief of University Police.

The 45-minute forums, including time for questions, will be held each day at 7 a.m., 3:45 p.m. and 5 p.m. in 128 Bissell Hall, North Campus. A six-member search committee then will make its recommendation to Laura Hubbard, UB’s vice president for finance and administration, who should make the final decision by the end of December.
